Dr. Marben joined the Tiffin University School of Business in the fall of 2017. He has spent a number of years working in both public and private accounting. During his time in public accounting he worked at Plante Moran, as well as smaller firms totaling 7 years of experience. During his public accounting practice, he worked with clients in various industries including: hospitals, schools, foundations, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, energy and various other small businesses. While working with these clients Dr. Marben provided audit, tax, retirement plan audit, and general business consulting services. During his 10 years in private accounting Dr. Marben focused mostly on the oil and gas industry where he was the controller for an independent exploration and production company in Northern Michigan. He also taught Accounting and Finance courses for Davenport University and North Central Michigan College.
Dr. Marben received his undergraduate degree from Davenport University in 2003 and his MBA from Central Michigan University in 2005. In 2022 he earned his PhD in Business Management with a concentration in accounting from Capella University. He formerly held his Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license in the State of Michigan, and is currently licensed as a CPA by the State of Ohio. In 2022 Dr. Marben passed the Institute of Managerial Accountants (IMA) Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) exam and earned this certification.
